For more than 85 years, Marshall BioResources has supported medical and veterinary research while maintaining a strong commitment to animal welfare and ethical care.
At our licensed facilities in upstate New York, animals are housed in separate buildings, grouped by species, age, sex, and weight to support appropriate socialization and individualized care. Our animal care practices are designed to promote health and safety.
Enclosures are designed to provide space for exercise, behavioral enrichment, and positive social interaction among animals. Trained caregivers interact with the animals each day through gentle handling and observation. Kennels are spot cleaned daily and completely sanitized biweekly to help maintain a healthy environment.
Daily Operations And Veterinary Care
At Marshall, animal health and welfare are routinely monitored by trained animal care professionals and on-site veterinary staff.
Veterinarians are available daily—and on call after hours as required by law— to oversee preventive care, monitor animal health, and provide treatment whenever needed. Animals are cared for throughout all stages of development to ensure appropriate nutrition, housing, and socialization.
Transportation to approved research program sites is done via specialized vehicles with full climate control and monitoring systems designed to ensure safety and comfort during the trip. When animals arrive at a research facility, they are given time to acclimate to their new surroundings under the care of trained veterinary and research staff.
